What this lock does#
The TechGuard Smart Door Lock Lite is a residential mortise smart door lock engineered for apartment entrance doors, private home front doors, and serviced accommodation. It combines a hardened steel mortise latch bolt and deadbolt with multiple electronic access options.
You unlock the door using:
- High-speed semiconductor fingerprint scanner
- Backlit touchscreen keypad with anti-peep PIN protection
- Encrypted RFID contactless keycards (13.56 MHz IC cards)
- High-security mechanical backup key (concealed keyway)
- Time-limited cloud guest PINs generated in the TechGuard app
In the TechGuard app you can:
- View current lock state (Locked or Unlocked based on event logs)
- Check battery percentage and Wi-Fi connection health
- Generate, schedule, and revoke guest PINs
- Review full chronological access logs (distinguishing fingerprint, PIN, card, or guest entries)
- Turn passage mode on or off
- Manage push, email, and SMS security notifications
Important operation notice: The lock bolt is mechanically operated by raising or depressing the physical door handle. You cannot motor-actuate the bolt remotely from the mobile app. All permanent fingerprints, master PINs, and RFID cards are registered directly on the lock hardware.
What you need#
- The TechGuard mobile app on iOS or Android (native build)
- A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi home network with valid credentials (5 GHz networks are not supported)
- 4 fresh AA 1.5V alkaline batteries (Duracell or Energizer recommended)
- Standard wooden or security door with thickness between 38 mm and 70 mm
- Mortise backset clearance of at least 60 mm
Setup and pairing#
Pairing is completed through a direct Wi-Fi SoftAP connection between your phone and the lock.
- Open the TechGuard mobile app, navigate to Add Device, and tap Smart Door Lock.
- Input your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi name and password. Do not input the lock temporary network here.
- On the lock keypad, wake the touch panel, press
*then#, enter your master administration passcode, and select Network Settings -> AP / Hotspot Mode. The lock announces AP broadcast or blinks the Wi-Fi icon. - On your mobile phone, open system Wi-Fi settings and select the broadcast network SL-xxxx or SmartLife-xxxx. If Android or iOS prompts that there is no internet, select Stay Connected.
- Return to the TechGuard app immediately and tap I have joined - Continue. The lock hotspot turns off after approximately 90 seconds.
- The app transmits Wi-Fi credentials to the lock. Rejoin your home Wi-Fi network and tap I am back on Wi-Fi.
- Name the lock (such as "Apartment Entrance" or "Main Door") and tap Save Device.
- Wake the keypad once immediately after saving to allow the lock to confirm its cloud registration token.
If pairing fails#
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Wrong password error | Re-type the home Wi-Fi password. Verify your phone is not connected to a 5 GHz mesh node. |
| Setup Wi-Fi drops before saving | Enter AP mode on the lock keypad again. Return to the app immediately after connecting to SL-xxxx. |
| Lock missing from device dashboard | Open Add Device -> Already in cloud to complete naming. If not found, reset lock network settings and retry. |
| Device remains offline after pairing | Ensure your Wi-Fi router is within 10 meters of the door and 2.4 GHz band is active. |
Operating the lock at the door#
- Unlocking with fingerprint: Place registered finger flat against the scanner. When the verification beep sounds and the LED ring turns green, depress the handle downward.
- Unlocking with PIN: Touch the keypad to wake the display. Enter your 6 to 8 digit PIN followed by
#. Anti-peep feature allows adding random numbers before and after your real PIN (example:4821+YOUR_PIN+7392#). - Unlocking with RFID card: Touch your registered IC card to the card icon on the keypad center.
- Locking the door: When exiting, close the door and lift the handle upward. This projects the heavy-duty deadbolts into the door frame.
- Inside locking: Lift the interior handle upward to engage deadbolts.
- Mechanical key override: Slide the magnetic cover at the bottom of the front panel to reveal the keyway. Insert key and turn clockwise to retract all bolts.
- Emergency power supply: If batteries run completely flat, connect a 5V power bank to the USB-C port at the base of the exterior panel to energize the keypad.
The lock screen in TechGuard#
The mobile interface provides:
- Lock status display: Locked or Unlocked (updated on physical credential events).
- Battery monitor: Live battery level percentage.
- Connection badge: Online, Standby (power-conserving idle state), or Offline.
- Access history feed: Shows who unlocked the door, timestamp, and entry method (Fingerprint #1, Card #2, Guest PIN, etc.).
- Guest vault: Overview of active and expired temporary credentials.
Guest PIN management#
Create temporary or single-use PINs for domestic staff, guests, or delivery personnel:
- Tap Create Guest PIN.
- Assign an identifier name (for example "Air Conditioner Technician").
- Input a 7-digit PIN code.
- Set the validity window: 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, or 72 hours.
- Check One-time PIN if access should terminate immediately after single entry.
- Tap Save. The PIN is transmitted to the cloud and synced to the lock on its next wake cycle.
Revoke any active PIN instantly by selecting it in the Guest Vault and tapping Revoke.
Security alerts and tamper protection#
- Incorrect credential lockouts: 5 consecutive failed fingerprint, PIN, or card entries trigger an 85dB local tamper siren for 60 seconds and lock the keypad. A high-priority tamper alert is dispatched to your phone.
- Prying sensor: An anti-tamper switch behind the exterior escutcheon triggers if the lock body is forcefully separated from the door.
- Low battery warnings: The lock beeps upon every unlock when battery drops below 20%, accompanied by app notifications.
What the app does not do#
- Motorized remote deadbolt throw or retraction from the mobile app
- Video streaming or two-way talk (no integrated camera hardware)
- Door ajar sensing (door position sensor is not present)
- Enrolling physical fingerprints or RFID cards from the smartphone
Maintenance#
- Replace all 4 AA batteries simultaneously whenever low battery alerts appear. Use standard 1.5V alkaline batteries.
- Wipe down the keypad and fingerprint glass using a slightly damp microfibre cloth. Never spray water or chemical solvents directly onto the lock housing.
- Ensure door alignment does not bind the deadbolts in the frame strike plate.
